DX and Treatment Plan

July 24, 2009

I got the following diagnosis and treatment plan from my SIL today. I’m reeling a little from the sheer enormity of the task before me, but at the same time I’m determined to complete it. I just went grocery shopping tonight, and am leaving for a road trip next Thursday, so dh and I have agreed to order the supplements we are to take, and start the day after we get back, August 3rd.

I started writing a grocery list for when I get back, and am actually feeling anxious to get started and get it over with.

Be assured I will be back to log the next 8 months, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

My son and dh have their own dx and treatment plan to follow as well (3 months no sugar for DS and 4-5 months no sugar for dh), but I won’t post them on my blog to protect their privacy. My privacy is already shot to hell, so why not post the whole thing… if it helps someone else, hallelujah!

There seems to be a fair amount of candida (yeast and fungus) in all 3 of you and it feeds on sugar consumed and makes you crave more. But I think that is what lies with all of you at the base of your concerns.

Main Complaints:

1) PCOS; ovarian cysts, irregular and infrequent menses, PMS,
2) Allergies: soy, carrots, hazelnuts, environmental, tetracycline. Prior history of anaphylaxis.
3) Weight
4) Fatigue: tend to anemia and tired in mornings
5) Bilateral carpel tunnel and tendonitis, neck stiff, TMJ, muscle pains, back pain, SI joint pain, feet and ankles pain
6) Gastrointestinal: bloat, craves sugar with stress, some reflux, strong thirst, car nausea, constipation, pain/cramps, belching, diarrhea,
7) Insomnia
8) Immune: 3-6 colds yearly, sore throats with some strep throats, chills, slow healing, runny nose and sinus problems with mucus, canker sores,
9) Headaches: dizzy, headaches with tension/weather/migraines
10) Stress: grinds teeth, jaw clicks, weight gain
11) Swelling in hands and feet, tremors with caffeine
12) Undiagnosed pains in chest

Diagnosis:

1) Tissue inflammation – toxicity mostly, in tissue causing much of weight gain and food sensitivity/acidity in your system.
2) Magnesium deficiency – weight gain with stress, stress overall, jaw clenching and clicks, swelling in hands/feet, chest pains, slow healing, etc
3) Systemic pathogen – colds, canker sores, slow healing, reflux, sugar cravings, mucus, fatigue
4) Deficiency syndrome- overall, your system looks deficient and needs to be boosted, which will then allow it to let go of un-needed weight and give you more energy.

Treatment:

1) Stop: metformin for now. It causes more inflammation in your case, and isn’t therefore helpful enough at this time.
2) Start
a. protein supplement. As you are vegetarian, I would suggest rice protein as it won’t bloat you up. There is a nice one made by Nutribiotic that is simple and efficient. Take 2 servings daily in addition to your diet.
b. Chlorella supplement. This will help with the acidity in your system and start to diminish the sugar cravings.
c. Magnesium glycinate 1200mg daily for 3 months, then 1800mg daily for 3 months, then 2400mg daily for a year plus. This will accelerate your healing, increase your digestive enzymes and ability, heal and reduce stress, increase energy, help sleep, help constipation, help swelling in your limbs, chest pains, body aches, carpel tunnel and tendonitis and regulate hormones. Take at bedtime. www.nutrichem.com in Ottawa has the best price at 100 caps of 600mg each for $23.00, and can make to order lesser amount caps.
d. Grapefruit seed extract: pill form: 6 daily for 3 months to address latent pathogen (likely yeast and viral) for increased energy, sugar cravings, reflux, gastrointestinal symptoms, and immune symptoms. I can help you with this if you like as I can get a practitioner pricing in Vancouver and send it to you.
e. I will send you a customized homeopathic to clear the allergies.

3) Stop: (to allow the tissue inflammation to heal so you can tolerate it again)
a. all dairy for 7-8 months. It is interfering with your magnesium uptake, as it binds to magnesium and renders the magnesium unusable for creating more enzymes for repair.
b. Sugar for 8 or so months– you can have fruit, but no sugar, honey etc. I suggest when you have a sugar craving, to have a large salad (oil is ok to use as dressing) before and then you can have a small serving of sugar. This will often kill the sugar craving or diminish it, due to the chlorella and nutrition/calories your system is craving.
c. Yeast products for 8 or so months. This means bread and vinegar and beer mostly. Baking powder and baking soda is fine.
d. Citrus fruits for 8 months.
e. Caffeine for 8 months– coffee, tea, green tea, decaf coffee, cola, chocolate. Herbal tea is fine.
f. Wheat and spelt for 8 months – kamut, rice, etc is fine – avoid things with wheat in it like soy sauce –but tamari is fine.
g. Soy for 6 months – as this affects the hormones.

You should start to feel some improvement in 5-6 weeks with digestion, allergies, energy, sleep, and much better in all areas by 13 or so weeks. It looks drastic to begin with, but if you want to look at healing your body and being able to eat these things in the future, with better health, it is the best way to go. Making a menu to stick to for the week makes it easier to stick to, and make sure to include snacks that are easy to grab. I have some cookbooks that you can borrow and really, when you get into it, it is not so difficult.

Email me with any questions or at least at week 6, 8, 13, 16.

Kamut is wheat based. Avoid kamut, if you plan to avoid wheat.

Thanks, but my doctor says kamut is fine for me (as you see in the email). She does personalized diets based on allergies, etc.

This sounds great April, I have done some detox for Candida in the past. However why are you taking metformin? Diabetes? or Fertility? I am sure your Doc has talked to you about it. but it concerns me about you stopping a medication rather than working both treatment plans to produce a possitive outcome. Other wise cool blog, i love the meal ideas, i will try some of them myself.

    Hi Becky! :)

The metformin was for fertility, not diabetes, and I stopped taking awhile ago anyways, so that's a non issue.

Can she do a review of me like that? Thats amazing!!!

Yes, she can! She sent us a long questionnaire and we mailed her a swab. She often treats people long distance. Her website is http://www.acupuncturenow.com
